ASOS revenue fell by 4% after experiencing volatile trading in the four months to 31 Dec. The drop was broadly in line with expectations and a result of challenging trading conditions.
Marks & Spencer sees festive sales surge
Marks & Spencer sales in the quarter to 31 Dec grew 9.7% to £3.3bn with clothing and home sales up 8.6% with store sales up by 12.8% with sales of third-party brands up by around 50%.
Pepco Group enjoys strong Christmas trading
Poundland owner Pepco Group posted a 24% increase in group revenue to €1.65bn In the quarter to 31 Dec with 4.4% increase in sales for Poundland and a 19.7% increase in sales for Pepco.
N Brown struggles over Christmas
N Brown reported a 7.6% fall in group revenue and a 9.2% fall in product sales over Christmas but said the performance was “solid” for the current environment and in line with expectations
Very sales rise at Christmas as toy and beauty categories do well
The Very Group reported a lift in sales in the run up to Christmas with retail sales up 2.2% in the seven weeks to Dec 23, with strong demand for toys and beauty products.
ProCook on track despite dip in revenue
Pro-Cook‘s Q3 revenue was down 2.5% to £22.4m however, during the final four weeks of the period, total revenue edged up 2.9% and revenues were up 108.7% over its pre-pandemic results.
Not on the High Street to make job cuts
Not on the High Street has warned staff that it plans to reduce staff numbers from the current 220, blaming the challenging market for e-commerce businesses
Asos to close down offices and storage warehouses
Asos has implemented a £300m package of “cost mitigation measures” including winding down three storage facilities, reducing office space and removing 35 unprofitable brands.
Paperchase put up for sale four months after takeover
Retail investor Steve Curtis who bought Paperchase four months ago, has put the business up for sale and has asked PwC to find a buyer, with the sale to be completed in the next few weeks.
European apparel sector slumps in Q3 2022
European fashion manufacturing activity slumped in Q2 2022 with European textile output down 3.2%, and clothing down 4.2% but manufacturers remain optimistic.
Buy now pay later usage soars,
Buy now Pay Later (BNPL) usage hit an all-time high over Christmas, with 34% of UK shoppers using BNPL, up from 26% in 2021, with fashion the most popular category accounting for 41% of sales.

But also, we’re looking forward to next season so make sure anything SS23 is flagged on your drops. Plus, as we’re mid-winter there will still be searches for anything cosy, so pyjamas, slippers, coats, hygge, winter warmers, knitwear, scarves and everything warm.
